Devin Bird is a Partner at BanyanGlobal, specializing in generational transitions, ownership and business strategy, and integrated governance. He has also worked intensively on programs to prepare the next generation to carry on and improve the family’s legacy—an area about which he is passionate.
Devin has a deep interest, and wide experience, in working in family-owned businesses. He began working in his family’s retail businesses at the age of six and continues to be an active owner and leader in his family business system. In this role, he has had numerous opportunities to use the family’s business assets to instill family values, to create positive family associations, and to provide employment and development opportunities for the next generation. He has also dealt with the challenges associated with leadership transition, decision-making, and insufficient growth in the family business.
In addition to his work in his own family-owned businesses, Devin has had broad experience as a consultant. He was a Senior Advisor at Banyan’s predecessor company, a Case Team Leader with Bain & Company, and a Senior Associate in KPMG’s Audit practice. At Bain, he gained extensive experience developing and implementing strategic plans to address key facets of business growth and performance improvement, including market expansion, customer acquisition and retention, footprint optimization, and large scale change. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at KPMG, Devin led financial statement audits for clients across a broad range of industries, including financial services, medical devices, and manufacturing.
Devin attended Brigham Young University, where he received his BS in Accounting. He also holds an MBA with High Distinction from The Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan.
Devin enjoys all things outdoors with his wife and two sons. They particularly enjoy their lake life living in Columbia, South Carolina.
